Rotorua Home > Honeymoon > Australia+NZ > Rotorua Photo 12 of 15 Mt Tarawera is the site of the most recent volcano eruption in the Rotorua area.  It erupted in 1886 along a string of 7 craters.  The vegetation still hasn`t fully come back yet, so it was an interesting landscape to hike through.
