From the moment we stepped out of the airport in Alice Springs we were surrounded by flies. The flies came out every day right after the sunrise and they didn`t settle down until the sunset. It was pretty annoying and the Aussie-flynet-fashion-victim hats were the only possible protection against the flies. At least the hats kept the flies out of our faces.
