The following day we went on a boat tour of Lake Tasman, which is located at the terminal face of the Tasman Glacier. Our guide explained that on the parking lot below the lake we were standing on 600 meters of debris that had been deposited there by the glacier. At it`s highest point about 18,000 years ago the glacier was 250 meters above where we were standing. We could still see vertical lines in the mountains that marked the highest point.
