With the sheep off the road we were on our way to Penguin Place on the Otago Peninsula. This is the nesting place of the endangered Yellow-Eyed Penguin. We joined a 90 minute tour through the colony and it was absolutely amazing. The conservation agency had dug trenches and viewing areas and they had covered it all with military netting. The goal was not to disturb the penguins when observing them.
