About 10 feet next to the road we saw a male and a juvenile cassowary. They are very rare birds and we were very lucky to see them. Only about 1,500 of them are still around. At a height of up to 6 feet they are big enough to hurt humans when they get annoyed, so we decided to stay in the bus.
