The next day we joined a tour to the Daintree National Park and Cape Tribulation. Cape Tribulation is the only spot in the world where rainforest meets the coral reef. Well, the reef was dead and the weather was miserable, so that was kind of a bust, but our tours through the rainforest were awesome. It turned out that tropical rainforest has about 7,000 species of trees. Even experienced guides can only pick out trees with very distinct features, like this Bumpy Satin Ashe, which looks like a teenager full of pimples.
